We spent two nights at the Lodge du Chateau. Our rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We liked the location. Don't forget to try the honey at the complimentary breakfast on the terrace. It was the best I've ever had. We'd like to thank Seyoum and his staff for a great stay!

My colleague and I had a wonderful week at the Lodge. We felt very welcome, well-cared-for and comfortable, which we really needed at the end of the day working at the Hospital! Brilliant views, garden and hospitality. Thank you Seyoum, and all your staff! Elaine

Wow, I can't praise Seyoum and his team enough. We had a four day trek in the mountains and a day in Gondar too. Everything was so well organized and everyone was so friendly. Ethiopia is a beautiful country and our holiday was made perfect by simply being able to relax and enjoy our time there with the confidence that we had such professional, helpful and knowledgeable people around us. Thank you for an unforgettable trip.

Many thanks to Seyoum and all at the Lodge du Chateau where we spent a very memorable Easter. Seyoum organized a surprise Birthday Party for our friend Hugh Mc Cullough . He did everything to make it an Ethiopian celebration - coffee ceremony, special birthday bread(yum)and more - it was the first birthday celebration in the Lodge. We will cherish the memories of the beautiful smiling Ethiopian people . I would like to say a big thanks to Seyoum and 'Explore Abyssinia Travel' for the unforgettable time I had in Gonder and the Simien Mountains. Although I was supposed to have done this trip with my boyfriend who never made it due to the volcano explosion in Iceland, Seyoum, managed to make this trip a one life time experience even if I travelled by myself. He has been very kind and professional and I hope I will have the opportunity to visit again soon. Simien mountains offer unique landscape, flaura and fauna. Thanks again, With Kind Regards Artemis

Cher Monsieur Seyoum, Nous sommes rentrés chez nous depuis six semaines mais nous pensons très souvent encore à notre voyage en Ethiopie, et en particulier aux quatre jours passés dans les Simien (du 22 au 25 décembre 09). Avec retard (mais conviction!), nous tenions à vous écrire combien nous avons été enthousiasmés par ce tour: d'abord par la beauté de ces montagnes (que mon mari connaissait pour avoir vécu un an à Gish en 1974) mais aussi par la qualité de l'organisation que vous nous avez fournie. Le guide, M. BEGO AMBAW, est excellent à tout point de vue et nous le recommandons chaleureusement à tout voyageur qui voudrait faire ce tour. Amical et connaissant parfaitement ces montagnes, il a su répondre à toutes nos questions, avec bonne grâce et précision. N'étant pas une grande marcheuse moi-même, il a très judicieusement loué pour moi une bonne mule, fiable et plus rassurante qu'un cheval, ce qui m'a permis de suivre le rythme. Il a su s’adapter à notre rythme de marche, et nous ne nous sommes jamais sentis stressés, malgré les grandes distances à parcourir. L'organisation pratique de notre tour a été parfaite (la tente, ravitaillement, etc.). Le cuisinier (Worku), toujours souriant, a su nous préparer des repas chauds, variés et savoureux, malgré les conditions précaires de l’environnement. L’organisation de notre campement, qui était de son ressort, a été parfaite aussi. Les muletiers, discrets mais indispensables, ont eux aussi bien fait leur travail. Bref, nous n’avons eu qu’à nous féliciter de nous être adressés à votre agence EXPLORE ABYSSINIA TRAVEL. Nous espérons que tout va bien pour vous à Gondar. Et nous vous souhaitons le plein succès pour votre agence – et aussi pour le lodge « du Château ». Mon mari m’a déjà dit qu’il avait grande envie de revenir un jour encore dans les Simien – vous nous reverrez peut-être passer chez vous encore une fois. Excusez- moi de ne pas vous écrire en anglais (mon anglais écrit est assez mauvais), Me souvenant des lettres que vous avez reçues en différentes langues, je me permets de vous écrire en français – je pense que quelqu’un pourra vous traduire ce message Bien amicalement à vous et M. Bego Elisabeth et Martin Aeschbacher (Suisse) PS : Remarque concernant les camps (pour information) : Les seuls points qui nous ont moins plu n’étaient en rien de votre ressort et je ne les mentionne ici que pour information, peut-être pourrez-vous en faire part aux personnes concernées : les sanitaires ne sont pas nettoyés comme il le faudrait dans les camps. C’était particulièrement désagréable dans le premier camp, à Sankaber, où l’infrastructure du camp était nettement insuffisante en cette période d’affluence. Il nous a semblé que, dans ces trois camps : Sankaber, Gish et Chennek, on pourrait, au moins pendant la haute saison, engager une personne, correctement payée, chargée uniquement d’entretenir la propreté des sanitaires : vider régulièrement les corbeilles des papiers, et laver les WC. A Chennek, où un ruisseau coule, où il y a de l’eau, ce serait particulièrement simple. Le danger de ce manque d’hygiène (à part les inquiétudes qu’on pourrait avoir sur le plan de la santé) risque de pousser les touristes à aller satisfaire leurs besoins dans la nature – et donc de la souiller. Une petite lampe à l’intérieur des WC serait aussi appréciable : une petite plaque solaire ne pourrait-elle apporter une amélioration ?

I had two wonderful days in Simien Mountains. Beautiful scenery, cute baboon and wali ibex. Also, many thanks for Seyoum's arrangement. He is a sincere and helpful guy. Without his help, I won't have amazing days in Simien Mountain.

There are many choices in terms of tour operators to trek the Simien Mountains. I chose Explore Abyssinia at the recommendation of a friend and I have only praise for the organization. Tena and her husband, the owners, could not have been more friendly, kind, and efficient. Thanks to both of you for a great trip.

EXPLORE ABYSSINIA - let's say: Seyoum - thank you for the well organized tour through Ethiopia. 1. Traveling in the Northern part by local bus from Addis to Bahir Dar -boattrip on the Lake of Tana, visiting a wonderful old church, the hike along the Blue Nile Falls – stopping on the way, now in a small bus, for a local market and a farmer’s family on the countryside - GONDAR - friendly companionship with all our supporters during the Semien Mountains trek –AXUM – the adventurous journey to the Danakil Depression with the yellow sulfur fields among the sparkling white salt beds and the salt mines –LALIBELA with the 12 orthodox churches 2. By 4-wheel-drive in the South to visit different Ethnies, like the Dorze, Konso, Mursi, Benna, Karo, Hamer, Arbore and the fascinating boattrip on the Lake Chamo with living crocodiles, hippos, pelicans and flamingos.
